Brewing in Memory of Jamie Gordon

Posted by Neil Bamford, November 27th, 2015 | 0 Comments

Recently the Craft Beer Industry lost a good friend and Innovator Jamie Gordon. Starting his career as an owner of a Homebrew/U-brew and then selling homebrew kits for Cask Brewing out of Calgary, Jamie help design a micro canning system that would grow from being in the U-Brew shops to systems that would be used around the world by small Craft brewers.

Jamie was a beer judge and a supporter of the Cowtown Yeast Wranglers, always keeping in touch with his home brew roots. We at The Vineyard were honored to represent our fellow home brewers yesterday as the first batches of Flat Cap Stout, a beer that will be a regular part of the line up for Tool Shed Brewing company, were brewed with Jamie's son and wife on hand to help out. It is a brewday that will linger in my mind for a long time to come. Certainly the most emotional one I have been involved in. I can't wait to raise a toast and have a chance to review the finished product in a few short weeks. While I rarely drink a beer directly from the bottle or can, you can be sure that I will always prefer to drink Black Cap Stout from the can as an homage to the Can Man himself.
