The Vineyard Newsletter - May springs at The Vineyard
The Vineyard

Spring is coming - really

As I'm writing this it is raining with a little snow mixed in, so it hardly seems like spring. But soon it will be time for yard cleanup, BBQ, outside activities and most importantly cool beverages. Although I do enjoy cool beverages all year long it certainly is great sitting out on the deck with my favourite in hand waiting for the grill to heat up.

We have a full inventory of white wines, Island Mist cooler type kits and a NEW fab (fermented adult beverage) Twisted Mist Margarita/Hard Lemonade. Start yours now in time for summer.

Here at The Vineyard we have all the ingredients you need to make your own handcrafted beer. We have Calgary's largest and most varied inventory of supplies; everything for the kits, extract brewers and all grain mashers. Check out our comprehensive web pages for an up to date list of our current stock of hops, grains, malts, liquid yeast and spices, used for making those special wits and weizen which are so good in the warm weather. Drop in or send a note to our Beer Geek today and get ready to brew for the summer.

Beer Competition Medals:

Speaking of our Beer Geek, he has been very busy brewing and entering Beer Brewing competitions. This year at the Lethbridge Werthogs annual competition he brought home three medals: Gold in the  Strong Ale/Belgian Strong class, Gold in the sour Ale class and a Bronze in the Porter/Dark Lager class.

Lethbridge was a great competition with 120 entries coming from Vancouver to Newfoundland and everywhere in between.

In the Regina ALES Beer Club's annual competition, our Beer Geek brought home another seven medals. Two Gold, two Silver and two Bronze medals all for his meads and ciders including Mead Maker of the Year.

Well done, we are extremely proud of The Vineyard's Beer Geek. You should be too and you can talk to him for ideas and suggestion for everything from ingredients, recipes, equipment and techniques.

We also want to congratulate Jeremy Cowan, Iain Morrish and Tony Davies all medal winners, customers and members of our local beer club.

In the run for the "Canadian Homebrewer of the Year" , Iain Morrish is leading with Jeremy Cowan in the top five and our Beer Geek is also in the top ten. The Cowtown Yeast Wranglers are leading in the race for Brew Club of the Year. Congratulations to all of you.

NEW: French Rose

We are "tickled pink" to annouce the arrival of  our French Rose. The past couple of years we had a Spanish Rose which was very well received. To change things up we now have a French Rose is stock. It is in the popular Selection 15 litre format.

A crisp, off-dry rosé from Southern France. An extremely food friendly wine,  The pairing possibilities run the gamut from light salads to spicy meats from the grill - definitely a wine to keep well-stocked and ready all summer. Serve chilled. Available for a limited time only as this is a seasonal release.

Alcohol by Volume - 11 - 11.5%

Sweetness: Off-Dry | Body: Light-Medium | Oak Intensity: none

Facebook and Twitter

Follow us on Twitter, @vineyardcalgary and like us on Facebook at: The Vineyard

We continue to utilize these two social media. Join in the conversations and keep up to date. We would like to have a place where customers, winemakers and beer makers can share ideas, recipes, tastings and techniques. Let us know what you think.

 The Vineyard Customer Reward Program

We have always rewarded our loyal customers. For many years now we have been running our 'Customer Reward Program'. It works like this: When you spend $20 you earn 1 point. Then points can be spent as dollars on your next purchase. Or, like a lot of customers, you can 'let it ride' and keep accumulating until you have enough points for that large purchase.

It is "pointless" to shop anywhere else.
